District Judge Allan Earl won’t seek re-election

District Judge Allan Earl will not seek re-election next year, the 13-year jurist announced Wednesday.

“I have never loved a job as much as I’ve loved this one.” Earl said in a statement. “It’s been a great privilege to serve in the District Court with colleagues who are truly dedicated and I will miss their association.”

Earl, who presided over Department 19, oversaw discovery in the civil cases related to the Hepatitis C outbreak.

Earl was first appointed to the bench by Gov. Kenny Guinn in 2000.

Those seeking to run for a judgeship have until Jan. 17 to file their candidacy.
