Chris Weidman-Anderson Silva rematch set for December
Referee Herb Dean moves in to break up Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva during the second round during of their UFC 162 mixed martial arts middleweight championship bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on July 6.
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will get a rematch with Chris Weidman in the main event of UFC 168 on Dec. 28 at MGM Grand.
Weidman ended Silva’s seven-year reign as champion with a second-round knockout in the same venue on July 6.
Silva originally said he would not seek a rematch, but the fight was announced on ESPN by UFC president Dana White on Saturday afternoon.
A previously announced main event fight between Miesha Tate and women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will now serve as the co-main event.
