Woman killed in North Las Vegas accident identified

The woman who died in Tuesday’s deadly crash in North Las Vegas has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as 54-year-old Brenda Zinser of Las Vegas.

According to police, Zinser was traveling westbound on Gowan Road with her grandson, who is between the age of 4 to 6, around 9:40 a.m. when she failed to stop at a red light at Decatur Boulevard. Zinser’s 2005 Hyundai sedan collided with an oncoming northbound 1997 Ford F-150.

Zinser and her grandson were transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries, where Zinser died a short time later. Zinser’s grandson and the 71-year-old driver of the pickup were in stable condition, police said.

Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. Evidence pointed to Zinser possibly being distracted by her cell phone just before the collision occurred.

This was the second traffic-related fatality in North Las Vegas in 2013.
