County planners shut down proposed swap meet
A swap meet proposed for the neighborhood around Valley High School was shut down this week by the Clark County Planning Commission.
The commission on Tuesday night voted unanimously against the 21,600-square-foot project proposed for the southeast corner of Sahara and Burnham avenues. The site formerly was home to Gaudin Ford.
As of now, the parcel’s owner, Ernest Lee of Urban Land of Nevada, isn’t sure whether an appeal is worth the trouble. He said he was reviewing options.
Lee said he thought the swap meet was a good idea, as long as it was handled correctly.
Neighboring landlords didn’t agree.
Judy Kelly, owner of the Sahara Professional Center across the street from the proposed swap meet, said she had “major” problems with employees at the former dealership parking in her lot.
