Man dead after pulled from Truckee River in Sparks

SPARKS — An unidentified man died after emergency crews pulled him from the Truckee River, according to Sparks police.

Police and REMSA medics tried to revive the man after he was found early Friday in the river just east of Reno near the 400 block of Galletti Way.

He later was pronounced dead at Renown Medical Center.

Police said he wasn’t carrying identification. They were trying to identify him based on a number of tattoos.

Police say they found a light green “Pacific” mountain bike on the riverbank nearby along with a black and red backpack.
