TODAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
2 Cat'sdoubledaygirl - Claimed by Bill Spawr and put away for some seasoning; should come out firing off the bench.
3 Tricksareforkids - Should show more early speed with first time blinkers on; her race two back on Fairplex dirt was good.
Long Shot - 1 Ten Plush
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds
4 Sacred Ovation - Huge class drop in second race off the claim by Peter Miller; a Miller daily double would pay pretty well.
3 Bodaway - Been away 9-months since graduation day; never a good sign to run big then disappear for a long time.
Long Shot - 5 Bubba Fitz
Race 3 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds
5 Will True Up - Gets big class relief from two stakes for this; graduated in a Betfair Hollywood turf sprint.
1 Procurement - Dead late closer returns off a 3-month hiatus; will save ground, sit in arrears and make one big brush.
Long Shot - 7 The Sixties
Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $21,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies, 4-year-olds
7 R Doubleday - Will try to make it 3 wins in a row, off short rest; this is not a fast group, so the feat is doable.
5 Suances Vixen - Takes a solid class drop off a 3-month hiatus; grinder is the kind that can inherit the lead.
Long Shot - 6 Secret Genius
Race 5 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds
9 Rob's Pal - Did everything but win last time in a strong race; logical favorite who could improve another step.
6 Back to Bako - Tries turf after faltering in his last two races; has been a beaten chalk in 3 of his starts.
Long Shot - 3 Real Heat
Race 6 - 1 mile, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
10 Fiesta Express - Game win last time and is intelligently placed to win again; showed good tactical speed in last.
9 Rossi Reserve - Speedball may have an issue if Melanistic also leaves; best races are when she is on the engine.
Long Shot - 6 Sheskey
Race 7 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up
10 Pulpit's Express - Went too fast in downhill turf sprint; should lead easily on the stretch out and at a slower pace.
11 Alley Hondro - Suspect he will draw in off the also eligible list; claimed by Ron Ellis, expect improvement.
Long Shot - 5 Motown Men
Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds
3 Remind Mee - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; also taking the blinkers off.
2 Silk Indian - Showed nice improvement in last, first for a price tag; dangerous chalk if he improves just one step.
Long Shot - 10 Cut to the Front
Best Bet - 7 R Doubleday (race 4)
Santa Anita Park Sunday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/3/$15.70; Long Shots, 7/1/$6.60; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
