2013 Elantra proves to be big hit at Planet Hyundai

Veteran Planet Hyundai Centennial sales consultant Chris Rooney is like so many other people in that he is continually fascinated by the automobile business. And in particular, the native of Washington state is intrigued with the 2013 Hyundai Elantra, which he calls another example of Hyundai's dedication to producing a quality product.

"Just when you might think that Hyundai has reached a possible limit on what it can do to improve its product, it comes out with something like the 2013 Elantra," he said. "No other automobile manufacturer does what Hyundai does, especially when you consider the new innovations it introduces every single year."

Hyundai introduced two new models in the Elantra line including the Coupe and the five-door GT, which also has Blue Link.

"People that know me know that one of the reasons I came to Planet Hyundai was because I kept losing deals to this dealership when I worked for someone else," Rooney, a nine-year car business veteran and 19-year Southern Nevada resident said with a laugh. "However, I don't have to worry about that any more, that's for sure."

Craig Price, who has been in the car business off and on since 2003, concurred with Rooney.

"Just the fact that the Elantra is the North American Car of the Year is proof of how well-respected the car is," he said. "The Elantra beat out all of the imports and domestics during the 2012 Detroit Auto Show."

Price said that 25 to 30 percent of his sales are for Elantras. Customers especially love Hyundai's warranty, which offers 10-year, 100,000-mile engine coverage and five-year, 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage.

"The gas mileage, safety and the reliability are also big reasons," said Price, a Las Vegas native. "People really research before buying and they walk in here knowing that the Elantra is a top-notch product.

"As a sales consultant, you really need to be on your toes nowadays. You don't have to sell the Hyundai, and especially the Elantra," Price added. "The buyer knows all about these vehicles. In fact, sometimes the only thing you need to do is locate the right vehicle equipped with what the customer wants."
