Profits soar for Las Vegas-based Allegiant Travel

Allegiant Travel Co. third-quarter profits soared as maintenance and sales and marketing expenses declined, the company said Wednesday.

During the three months ended Sept. 30, total revenues rose 13.2 percent to $216.9 million, with the biggest jump coming in flight-related charges such as baggage and seat assignment fees. The net income of $16.9 million, or 87 cents a share, marked a 78 percent gain.

For the first nine months of this year, the $685.9 million in revenues was up 17.2 percent. The net income of $63.8 million, or $3.29 a share, was up 65.4 percent.
