Lamborghini Urus concept: It appears the market for high-end sport utes shows no signs of abating, with more premium manufacturers planning product launches over the next few years. The latest is Volkswagen-owned Lamborghini, which plans to build this low-slung four-wheel-drive model for the 2016 model year. The automaker says the engine to be used in the Urus will make 600 horsepower, but won't confirm more than that (a gasoline-electric hybrid is a distinct possibility). Pricing is expected to be somewhere north of $200,000.

If the purpose of a rearview mirror is to help you see what's behind, then does it make sense to have the side mirrors doing the same job? Actually, side mirrors are there to help you see what's behind and beside you, such as anyone driving in the adjacent lanes. Adjusting the angle of the side mirrors outward to pick up where the rearview mirror leaves off (as opposed to duplicating its field of vision) helps reduce blind spots. And, while it's not a substitute for shoulder-checking, you will know more about what's going on around you. Adjusting the mirrors in this manner even eliminates the blinding, tiring glare from headlights of vehicles following directly behind you.

To adjust the side mirrors for a broader view, first make note of how much coverage your rearview mirror is providing. Sitting in the driver's seat, adjust the angle of the driver's-side mirror until there's only a slight overlap (in terms of your view) with the rearview mirror. Do the same with the passenger side and you're ready to see more of what's beside you, as well as what's behind you .
