Findlay group helps Heart Association

Findlay Automotive Group's extensive involvement throughout Southern Nevada can be measured by the company's dedication to the American Heart Association's Las Vegas operations.

Several of Findlay's Southern Nevada new-automobile dealerships participate throughout the year in the association's fundraisers and outreach programs.

One of Nevada's largest independently owned businesses, Findlay Automotive Group, has participated in AHA programs for several years. Last year, the association's Heart Walk raised $285,000 to fight heart disease and stroke thanks in part to the involvement of many businesses including Findlay Automotive Group.

Overall, the association raised more than $1 million in 2011.

Tyler Corder, Findlay Automotive Group's chief financial officer, is entering his second year a chairman of the Las Vegas Heart and Stroke Executive Committee for Heart Walk. Other special events include Go Red for Women Luncheon at the Rio Feb. 17; and the Heart Ball at The Mirage April 28.

Under Corder's direction in 2011, heart walk contributions soared from $215,000 to $285,000. The goal for 2012 is $300,000.

Findlay dealerships have combined to raise about $40,000 in 2011 and 2012 for research grants and educational outreach.

The annual Heart Walk (www.lasvegas
heartwalk.org), scheduled this year on Oct. 13 at Mountain's Edge Exploration Park, will include even more involvement from Findlay's dealerships to join with last year's participants Findlay Toyota, Findlay Honda Northwest, Findlay Chevrolet, Findlay Kia and Subaru of Las Vegas.

"Without the amazing efforts of Tyler, Findlay Toyota and the auto group, we would not have reached our goals and many research grants would go unfunded," said Lacy Ekert, business development director for the American Heart Association.

"Employees of our stores really enjoy helping when needed, especially when talking about the American Heart Association," Corder said. "We never have a problem getting our people involved when the need arises."

Findlay Automotive Group was founded in 1961 by the late Pete Findlay whose son, Cliff, now spearheads automobile dealerships in Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Further information may be found at www.findlayauto.com.
