Planet Hyundai Sahara names Mills employee of the month
Planet Hyundai Sahara sales consultant Terry Mills is a former Air Force jet mechanic flying high in the car business.
The 41-year-old Mills is moving quickly, considering a pair of recent developments. He was named employee of the month for February while also being promoted to the dealership's Internet department after working on the floor for the past five years.
While the car business requires long hours to be successful, the Internet department is even more intense because of the many hours required answering inquiries, he said.
"You can never let up when you're in the Internet department," Mills said . "In this business, people will go to another dealership either in this city or somewhere else, if you don't get back to them quickly.
"The Internet opened up the car business in so many ways especially as it relates to information. Not only must you know your product, but you had better be ready to respond to questions at the same time."
A longtime veteran of the car business, Mills loves new challenges. He has been with Planet Hyundai Sahara for six years.
"The car business is constantly changing anyway," he said. "That's what makes it so much fun. No two days are the same and no two car deals are the same either."
Mills was the dealership's top sales consultant in 2009-2010. He is also one of only three certified Equus salespeople at the dealership.
"It's nice to work for a locally owned store where the owners are active in the day-to-day business and who recognize and appreciate hard work," he said.
Ron Coury, co-owner of the Planet Hyundai group of companies, said, "Terry is a model employee. His success as a salesman is clearly the result of the way he treats his customers combined with his knowledge of the Hyundai product. Thanks to the dedication and performance of so many of our employees, exhibiting the kind of work ethic Terry brings to the store every day, we are proud to have won the award for top-selling store in Nevada for 2011."
Hyundai models have skyrocketed in popularity especially considering a strong list of warranties. Each new vehicle comes with a 10-year, 100,000-mile power train warranty along with a five-year, 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.
Planet Hyundai Sahara is at 7150 W. Sahara Ave. The dealership is part of a group that includes Planet Hyundai Centennial at 6200 Centennial Center Blvd., in the northwest valley.
The dealerships recorded more than 4,000 sales of new and preowned vehicles during 2011 to officially become the No. 1 selling Hyundai dealership in the state.
