National Merit semifinalist: Briana Chue | Coronado High School

■ What college do you plan on attending and for what major?

My top two choices for college are Stanford University and UCLA, where I want to major in biology. Since I was a little girl, I have been interested in biology because of my parents, who are both doctors. I have always looked up to them, and I want to follow in their footsteps.

■ What extracurricular activities do you participate in?

I am currently a member of Key Club, Leo Club and Mu Alpha Theta. I am also in TAG (the Teen Advisory Group) for the Paseo Verde Library.

■ What do you do for fun?

In my free time, I like to paint or go out with my friends.

■ In detail, how did you prepare for the PSAT?

I honestly didn't really do anything to prepare for the PSAT. I did, however, study for the SAT.

■ Why are grades so important to you?

Grades are important to me because I feel they reflect the amount of effort one makes.

■ What's your favorite movie and book?

My favorite movie is "Love Actually," and my favorite book is "The Kite Runner," by Khaled Hosseini.

■ What's a guilty pleasure of yours -- such as a TV show, movie or hobby -- and why are you ashamed of liking it?

A guilty pleasure of mine is definitely "Pretty little Liars." I know the show is overly dramatic and not in the least bit educational, but I find it entertaining.
