BRANCH OFFICE OPENS FOR ASSESSOR AND RECORDER SERVICES
Northwest Clark County residents in need of assessor or recorder services can use the branch office at 3211 N. Tenaya Way, Suite 118, in the Doña Maria Plaza near the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue, west of U.S. Highway 95.
The branch office is shared by the Assessor's Office and Recorder's Office. Assessor services provided at the main downtown office also are available at the branch office.
The Recorder's Office provides an area for self-service records research and can provide certified copies of official records and marriages recorded from 1909 through the present. Residents may record up to 10 documents per day at the branch office.
Wedding officiants also may record marriage certificates. Having both the assessor's and recorder's staffs together in the branch office also means residents can complete some filings that involve both offices. In addition to these services, payments for real property taxes (current tax bills only with payment coupon) are accepted on behalf of the Treasurer's Office.
The branch office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and is closed from noon to 12:30 p.m. daily for lunch.
For more information call the Recorder's Office at 455-4336 or visit accessclarkcounty.com/depts/recorder.

TAX PREPARERS NEEDED FOR UNITED WAY PROGRAM
More than 400 volunteers are needed for United Way's Earn It Keep It Save It collaborative, which provides complimentary tax preparation for low- to moderate-income families, individuals and seniors.
Volunteers are needed beginning Jan. 15 through April 17, 2012, to serve as tax preparers, greeters, quality reviewers and site coordinators. Those donating their time will receive tax law and e-file training and IRS certification.
In the 2011 tax season, more than 200 volunteers helped 6,000 families claim nearly $8 million in tax refunds, including more than $3.1 million in federal tax credits. The preparation service helped return money to the pockets of local residents and the local economy.

ST. BALDRICK'S CHILDHOOD CANCER CENTERS RECEIVE $1.8 MILLION IN GRANTS
The St. Baldrick's Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, recently awarded $1.8 million in infrastructure grants.
The foundation's infrastructure grants provide institutions with resources to enable them to conduct more research and enroll more kids in ongoing clinical trials -- their best hope for a cure. In Las Vegas, Alliance for Childhood Diseases received a grant.
The fall grants, combined with more than $19.6 million awarded in June, bring the St. Baldrick's Foundation's 2011 funding total to more than $21 million. Since the foundation's first grants as an independent charity in 2005, St. Baldrick's has funded more than $78 million in childhood cancer research.
