Lightning hits Reno game, four hurt

RENO -- Four people were injured when lightning struck the bleachers during a soccer game in Reno. None of the injuries was serious.

The strike happened near the end of a boys soccer game between McQueen and North Valley high schools Saturday night, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported.

Reno Fire Department Capt. Steve Clark said about a half-dozen people were in the vicinity of the strike. Four people were injured and two men were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center.

The newspaper said one man had part of his shirt burned and his hair was singed.

McQueen soccer coach Bart VanDamme said he heard a cannonlike boom and ducked for cover as dirt and dust flew.
