Man dies in northeast valley shooting

A shooting inside a northeast valley home Sunday afternoon left one man dead, Las Vegas police said.

Lt. Ted Snodgrass said police were alerted to the shooting at 3:30 p.m. at a home at 868 Ute Lane, near Bonanza Road and Nellis Boulevard.

The identity of the dead man was not released.

Snodgrass said the man was shot in the chest and died at University Medical Center.

Snodgrass said the shooting happened in the home in a room with several people in it.

"I don't know who shot whom," Snodgrass said.

"The patriarch, or father of the family, was shot once."

Snodgrass said detectives with the agency's Homicide Section were called to investigate.
