Police say teen shot in home invasion

A resident shot a 17-year-old boy Monday morning during a home invasion in North Las Vegas, police said.

The 40-year-old man was at home on the 6500 block of Kenya Springs Street, near Centennial Parkway and Losee Road, when he heard breaking glass downstairs about 9:30 a.m., officer Chrissie Coon said.

The man retrieved his gun and was confronted by two people upstairs. The man fired at the pair, sending them running from the home, Coon said.

About a minute later, the teen walked to an apartment complex with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

He was taken to the hospital and will be charged with home invasion and burglary, Coon said.
