One dead, four injured in Pahrump accident

A boy died and a female passenger was critically injured in a Saturday morning single-vehicle crash in Pahrump, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Authorities did not release the name of the deceased boy.

Trooper Chelita Rojas said the crash occurred about 11:15 a.m. when a Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on State Route 160 near mile marker 35.

Rojas said there were five passengers in the Explorer, which rolled for unknown reasons. She said the boy was thrown from the car. In addition to the female in critical condition, three passengers were hospitalized with nonlife threatening injuries, Rojas said.

The crash remains under investigation.
