1940 Ford Woodie

I am the proud owner of a piece of American history. I am the second owner of a 1940 Ford Standard Woodie.

I found the car sitting in a barn in Northern California more than 20 years ago. The original owner bought it from a dealership on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco.

I was told about the car by a co-worker who was hunting on the owner's property and ran into the barn during a thunder storm. While waiting for the storm to pass, he looked around the barn and discovered the vehicle. I purchased the car from the owner and rebuilt the car from the frame up.

In 1940 Ford made two models
of Woodie -- a Deluxe and Standard model -- the Standard model being the the cheaper of the two, hence fewer were built. According to Ford, only 1,500 were sold of this model and fewer have survived to this day.
