Third suspect held in tire shop death

A third suspect was arrested by Las Vegas police this week in the slaying of a northeast valley tire shop employee in January.

Jose Guadalupe Garcia, 26, was booked with no bail into the Clark County Detention Center on several charges including murder with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Police allege Garcia was involved in the Jan. 6 slaying at the Llantera Del Norte at 4380 N. Lamb Boulevard, at Craig Road.

Pedro Quijay-Cacain, 39, an employee of the tire shop, was killed by a gunshot to the abdomen.

Ulises Gomez, 26, and Luis Armando Ramirez, 36, were previously arrested in connection with the slaying. Both men also face charges of murder with a deadly weapon and robbery.

According to Ramirez's arrest report, both men told police they were pumping gasoline across the street in the early morning when they decided to rob the shop.

Gomez suggested they steal the rims and sell them for money to gamble, according to the report.

They picked up a third man and went to the shop about 6 a.m., they said.

Ramirez said they went inside to rob the two employees, according to the report. One of the employes screamed, and Ramirez tied the man up with tape.

Gomez confronted the other employee, Quijay-Cacain, according to the report. The employee who screamed saw Quijay-Cacain beaten repeatedly with the butt of a pistol, the report states. The employee then heard a gunshot and saw Quijay-Cacain on the floor.

Garcia is slated to appear in court today.
