Officer shoots, wounds man near Nellis Air Force Base
A man was shot and wounded by police after brandishing a knife in a mobile home park near Nellis Boulevard and East Gowan Road tonight.
Las Vegas police Capt. Randy Montandon said police responded to a mobile home park at 3825 N. Nellis, next to Nellis Air Force Base, about 8 p.m. in response to a report of a man with a gun.
The officer approached the man who matched the description, and when he was 10 to 20 feet away, the man produced a large type of Bowie knife, Montandon said.
The officer fired at the man several times, striking him at least once. The man was taken to University Medical Center where he was in surgery late tonight. His condition was unknown. The names of the officer and wounded man were not released.
