A criminal defense attorney was arrested Thursday on drug and weapons charges.

Steven M. Altig was being held at the Clark County Detention Center late Thursday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

The 41-year-old was being held on $9,000 bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday morning.

Details of his arrest were not available late Thursday.

Altig, who was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1999, has represented clients on various criminal charges, including murder and drug-related charges.

Online court records show he has more than 30 cases active in Clark County District Court.
