Bail set for man accused of tying up two children

A man accused of tying up his girlfriend's children while he watched an NBA basketball game at a bar must post $400,000 bail to be set free.

Jonathan Weaver, 20, was charged last week with child abuse, child endangerment, kidnapping and attempted murder after Las Vegas police found his girlfriend's 1- and 2-year-old boys tied up in their car seats in an apartment complex garage.

A neighbor alerted police after hearing the children cry in the garage inside the Augusta Apartments on Spencer Street south of Pyle Avenue. When officers arrived, they found the boys hooded, bound and restrained in their car seats. Weaver is not the father of the boys.

According to police, Weaver was upset he had to baby-sit the boys. After tying them up, he went to a nearby bar and watched the NBA Finals match-up between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Orlando Magic.

The boys, who were in the garage for about two hours, suffered minor injuries. Their mother, who does not live with Weaver, was at night school and was not charged in connection with the incident.
