Gibbons vetoes two more bills

Gov. Jim Gibbons has vetoed two employment related bills. Gibbons tonight vetoed Assembly Bill 395, which would implement limited collective bargaining for state employees. The other measure, Senate Bill 376, pertains to prevailing wage requirements for county public works projects.

Bill 395 "would result in further increases in state spending and would require further tax increases to fund that spending," he said in his veto letter.

Gibbons said Bill 376 expands the scope of prevailing wage projects and increases costs of all county public works projects.

Because the Legislature has adjourned, the vetoes cannot be overriden until the 2011 session.
