Red Rock Canyon: A moderate four-mile hike at Red Rock will take place Monday. On Wednesday, there is an easy one-mile hike at Lost Creek for families with children to explore some of the artifacts left behind by the Native Americans. Friday's events will include a moderate five-mile hike between the White Rock Hills and the La Madre Mountains, looking for signs of wildlife along the mountain ridges as we hike up to the cabin. A moderate three-mile hike from Willow Spring back towards White Rock Spring is scheduled for Saturday (515-5367).

The Desert Riders Club of Nevada: The Las Vegas Desert Riders Club of Nevada, a local chapter of the Honda Rider's Club of America, meets at 9 a.m. the second Saturday of the month at Carter Power Sports, 6725 S. Decatur Blvd. All motorcycles are welcome (795-2000).

Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center: Tuesday events will include a 30-minute talk and discussion on the geology of Red Rock Canyon, twice an hour from 1 to 4 p.m. "Slitherin' Snakes," an interactive program for children 2-6 years old, will take place Friday. On Saturday, there will be a program about the jackrabbits in the Mojave Desert. Children 2-5 years old will hear a story and do an art project to take home (515-5367).

The Archaeo-Nevada Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at College of Southern Nevada, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd., Building K, Room 226. Local historian Robert McCracken will present a talk on the history of Pahrump (254-7883).
