Teen guilty in gang-related murder

A jury Friday convicted a 19-year-old gang member in the 2007 slaying of another teen.

Moises Barragan was found guilty of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon with a gang enhancement, conspiracy to commit a crime, attempted murder with a deadly weapon with a gang enhancement and discharging a firearm out of vehicle with a gang enhancement.

Barragan killed 19-year-old Andre Devoe in March 2007 in the neighborhood behind the Stratosphere.

Devoe wasn't a gang member, his family has said.

Authorities said Devoe and two other men were walking to a pawn shop to sell a video game console when Barragan and two brothers followed them in a car and taunted them.

Devoe and his companions hid in a convenience store but Devoe and another man were shot when they left.

Barragan's two accomplices, Jose Escamilla and Eduardo Escamilla, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a deadly weapon and were sentenced in November to five to 20 years in prison.

A judge will sentence Barragan on March 5.
