Flu vaccinations available

Flu season is around the corner and the Southern Nevada Health District wants to get residents immunized. The health district's vaccine campaign starts Monday.

Vaccines, which health officials say shouldn't be in short supply this year, are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at these locations:

• Ravenholt Public Health Center, 625 Shadow Lane.

• East Las Vegas Public Health Center, 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12.

• Henderson Public Health Center, 520 E. Lake Mead Parkway.

• North Las Vegas Public Health Center, 1820 E. Lake Mead Blvd., Suite F.

• Spring Valley Public Health Center, 6330 W. Spring Mountain Road, Suite C.

People at high risk, including those who are pregnant women, seniors and health care workers, are encouraged to get a vaccine. Children between 6 months and 59 months old also are encouraged to get vaccines, health officials say.

Currently, there is no flu activity in Southern Nevada. Flu season generally peaks in Southern Nevada in January or February.

The health district is participating in the Vote & Vax program, with flu shots offered at clinics near polling sites.

For more information about flu and pneumonia vaccines as well as locations, call 759-0850 or go to www.south- ernnevadahealthdistrict.org or www.flurevolution.com.

The health district will accept Medicare Part B, Medicare Railroad Part B, Medicaid or cash. For those without insurance, flu vaccines cost $30. Pneumonia shots are $45.
