Henderson police charge woman in husband’s 2006 slaying
April 2, 2008 - 9:00 pm
A 46-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the death of her husband, whose body was found in May 2006 by hikers in California, Henderson police said.
Stephanie Thomas was held Tuesday on $1 million bail at Henderson jail on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder and accessory to murder, police said. Thomas is accused of helping plan the slaying of her husband, Lawrence Thomas, 47, whose body was found in the Mojave National Preserve in Baker, Calif.
Henderson police have been investigating Lawrence Thomas' death since April 2006, when his brother-in-law called police to say he had not heard from Lawrence Thomas.
Stephanie Thomas told police that Lawrence Thomas left home after an argument on April 13, 2006.
Henderson police in February arrested Shawn Pritchett, 38, on murder charges in connection with Lawrence Thomas' death. Pritchett had moved into the Thomas home following the disappearance of Lawrence Thomas.
Police said evidence contradicted Stephanie Thomas' statements that she did not know what happened to her husband. Detectives also found evidence that contradicted Pritchett's statements about his whereabouts on the evening of April 13 and that put him in California the night Lawrence Thomas disappeared, police said.
Detectives are still investigating and believe there might be additional suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Henderson police at 267-4750 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
