Rhodes Ranch to host Tee Up For Kids Charity Golf Tournament

Rhodes Ranch's signature golf course once again will serve as the site for The Public Education Foundation's eighth annual Tee Up For Kids Charity Golf Tournament, scheduled for Tuesday, April 29. Last year's event was attended by more than 100 golfers and raised thousands of dollars for the organization that benefits Las Vegas Valley public schools.

Rhodes Homes' annual commitment to The Public Education Foundation is anchored through a series of sponsorships, donations and events held throughout the year. Glynda Rhodes, vice president of interior and architectural design at Rhodes Homes, is a longtime supporter of the organization who sits on the foundation's board of directors and is honorary chairwoman of the annual golf tournament at Rhodes Ranch Golf Club.

"The Tee Up For Kids golf tournament is a wonderful way to give people an opportunity to support our community's schools by participating in a fun activity like golf," Rhodes said. "We hope to build on the success of last year's tournament by having even more participants on April 29 and raising more funds for The Public Education Foundation."

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun scramble start at 7:30 a.m. Tournament activities include hole-in-one and closest-to-the-pin contests; tee prizes; first, second and third place trophies; and an awards luncheon. Playing spots are available for $300 and foursomes are $1,200. Corporate sponsorships are also available. All donations are tax deductible.

Glynda Rhodes and her husband Jim Rhodes, founder and president of Rhodes Homes, partner each year with Rhodes Ranch to support The Public Education Foundation through the golf tournament. The money raised benefits Southern Nevada's public schools through foundation programs and initiatives such as Clark County READS, the Teacher EXCHANGE, scholarships, grants, and Project SMILE.

This year, Grey Ruegamer, a guard for the 2008 Super Bowl champion New York Giants, will join Tee Up golfers. In 2007, Ruegamer partnered with the foundation to establish the Ruegy's Readers program, which encourages students to read and donates books to school libraries in the names of students selected as Ruegy's Readers. Ruegamer grew up in Las Vegas and attended Bishop Gorman High School.

The Rhodes Ranch Golf Club was designed by renowned golf-course architect Ted Robinson Jr., The par-72 course was named a "Best Value" by Vegas Golfer magazine.
