Top of Green Valley’s order stars

The top of Green Valley's lineup did exactly what coach Lauren Taylor wanted it to do on Friday against Coronado.

Green Valley defeated the Cougars 10-3 as its Nos. 1 through 3 hitters combined to go 9-for-9.

Annamarie Smith, the leadoff batter, was 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs.

Lace Jordan, the No. 2 hitter, was 3-for-3 with a double, a sacrifice hit and two RBIs.

And Kayla Anderson, third in the Gators' order, had four singles and three RBIs.

"I know that when I see them at the bat, they're going to help us in some way," Taylor said. "It's been this way since last year, and it's going to keep going that way as long as they keep on hitting."

For the season, Smith is batting .485, Anderson .478 and Jordan .444.

No. 6 hitter Jacqui Cappuccilli helped with three hits.

Coronado scored twice in the first inning as Allie Amato -- who finished 3-for-4 with a double -- drove home Sarah Detwiler with a single and Bianca Query followed with a fielder's choice that scored Kelsie Fahr.

Shadow Ridge 8, Arbor View 0 -- At Shadow Ridge, Mandy Harmon fired a no-hitter as the Mustangs dominated.

Harmon struck out nine, walked four and drove in a run.

Rayna Bradshaw was 3-for-3 with three doubles and three RBIs and Ashley Huddleston 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Shadow Ridge.

Clark 14, Desert Pines 1 -- At Desert Pines, Jordyn McDonald pitched a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts to lead the Chargers to a win in six innings.

McDonald went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs for the Chargers, and teammate Anna Jaehn was 2-for-3 with a triple.

Silverado 14, Del Sol 0 -- At Silverado, Anna Walton threw a four-hitter with six strikeouts to lead the Skyhawks to a five-inning win.

Mikayla Thielges was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs, and teammate Amanda Buchholz went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Silverado.

Palo Verde 13, Cheyenne 3 -- At Palo Verde, Megan Widmer drove in three runs to lead the Panthers to victory.

Missy McCormick struck out nine over five innings to earn the victory. Jasmine Fukuda had a double and two runs for the Desert Shields.

Centennial 12, Legacy 0 -- At Centennial, Johnna Brown went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and three runs as the Bulldogs blanked the Longhorns.

Jenna Van Eykeren and Juelaine Noa each went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Centennial. Jennifer Watkins pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out 10 in five innings.

Cimarron-Memorial 16, Mojave 9 -- At Mojave, Felicia Valdez was 3-for-5 with a double and a triple to help the Spartans beat the Rattlers.

Paige Savage added four hits, including a double.

Foothill 14-11, Tech 0-1 -- At Tech, Shelbie Medrano pitched a no-hitter in the opener and a one-hitter in the second game as Foothill swept a doubleheader.

Lacey Daly homered for Foothill in the first game and went 3-for-4 with three doubles in the second. Amber Stater added a home run for the Falcons in Game 2.

Marist (Ore.) 15, Sierra Vista 8 -- At Sierra Vista, Marist used two five-run innings to down the Lions.

Desiree Laswell and Amelia McIntosh each had two hits for Sierra Vista.

Durango 8, Parker (Ariz.) 0 -- At Kingman, Ariz., Durango scored five runs in the first inning on the way to a win in the Kingman Tournament.

Lily Williams had a triple for the Trailblazers, who picked up a second win in the tournament when Beaver Dam (Ariz.) forfeited.

Foothill 3, Pahrump Valley 1 -- At Kingman, Ariz., Kylee Taylor was 2-for-2 with an RBI to lead the Falcons in the Kingman Tournament.

Cassondra Keven struck out six and allowed four hits to get the win.
