Plants explode in order to survive — VIDEO

Nature goes through drastic measures to ensure life continues. Here’s an example of one of those measures.

Plants spread their reproductive seeds in different ways, such as covering worker bees in their pollen or having the wind gently carry their potential offspring.

Some plants, however, decide to be a bit more exciting and violent.

The video below, from the Smithsonian, shows some amazing footage of plants that explode in order to spread their seeds.

Featured in the video are touch-me-nots and squirting cucumbers, their explosions caught in high quality slow-motion video.
