Now that spring has sprung in Southern Nevada, the time is right to upgrade your thirsty grass landscape to one filled with vibrant water-efficient plants and trees. Then earn a cash incentive through the Southern Nevada Water Authority’s (SNWA) Water Smart Landscapes Rebate Program.
Not only will replacing thirsty grass with drip-irrigated plants and trees help our community save water, but you’ll see long-term savings on your monthly water bills.
Start by enrolling at snwa.com. From there, an SNWA Conservation staff member will schedule a site visit to your property for an inspection and approve your application before you remove your grass.
Then comes the fun part: planning your new landscape! The SNWA has numerous helpful resources available on its website, including plant and tree lists and sample landscape designs. You can also get colorful ideas for your new garden by visiting the Springs Preserve’s Botanical Garden or taking a FREE Water Smart Landscape class from one of our SNWA experts.
Once you’ve selected your plant palette, you can dig in and do the work yourself, or hire an experienced, professional landscape contractor. The SNWA maintains a comprehensive list of Water Smart Contractors who are trained in water-efficiency practices.
When your conversion is finished, contact SNWA Conservation to conduct a final review and approval. Then you’ll receive a cash incentive of up to $3 per square foot (certain restrictions apply).
Thousands of your friends and neighbors have already done their part to save our limited water resources by upgrading their non-functional grass to water-efficient landscaping. Why not join them?
What are you waiting for! Start saving time, money and water today. For WSL program criteria, tips and resources, and to enroll, visit snwa.com today.
