Las Vegas-based Allegiant Travel Co., parent of Allegiant Air, on Wednesday announced new nonstop service between Las Vegas and Plattsburgh, N.Y.
The new flights will operate twice weekly between Plattsburgh International Airport and McCarran International Airport beginning Dec. 19.
Plattsburgh is in upstate New York, about 60 miles south of Montreal, home to Cirque Du Soleil, and about 160 miles north of Albany, New York's capital.
"With this new service, Celine Dion and Cirque du Soleil will have a new and affordable way to consider going to work in Las Vegas, and thousands of Montrealers and others who have been asking about Vegas will be able to get there through Plattsburgh, Montreal's U.S. Airport," said Garry Douglas, president of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, which serves as the marketing and development agency for Plattsburgh International Airport. "Las Vegas has been the most requested destination from the beginning, and we know this operation will be another success for both Allegiant and Plattsburgh."
Shares of Allegiant Travel Co. rose 62 cents, or 0.96 percent, Wednesday to close at $64.88 on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
