B&K Rechargeable Battery will open Las Vegas operation
B&K Rechargeable Battery, a Shenzhen, China, lithium-ion battery maker, will on Monday open a new Las Vegas operation.
B&K managing director Ray Verhelst said the new operation will initially provide its parent with sales and engineering support, with assembly support later.
B&K Rechargeable Battery North America will occupy space at 410 S. Rampart Blvd. Suite 390 in the Regus Office Solutions center in Tivoli Village.
Verhelst said the Las Vegas operation will look to hire five workers to start, including an engineer with renewable-energy experience, and expand to 30 workers over a year.
Verhelst said B&K now produces 15 million lithium cells per month now, mostly for consumer electronics, and will double its production capacity with a soon-to-be completed 1.9-million-square-foot manufacturing campus in Shenzhen, he said. The company is also developing large batteries for secondary vehicles such as electric bicycles and golf carts and for streetlights and signs.
