Business lending expo slated for today at The Orleans

The Reno-based Small Business Development Center will host a free business lending expo from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at The Orleans, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.

The event will teach businesses how to access $13.8 million in federal money made available to Nevada through the Small Business Credit Initiative.

Exhibitors will include banks, lenders and resource partners such as the Small Business Administration, the Small Business Development Center, the Nevada Micro Enterprise Initiative, the Internal Revenue Service, SCORE and others.

Breakout sessions will cover business plans, marketing and credit repair. The event will also feature a session in Spanish about starting a business and an address by Nevada Commission on Economic Development Executive Director Michael Skaggs.

In an email, SCORE counselor Raj Tumber said the expo will answer one of the most common questions prospective business people in Nevada ask him: "Where is the money?"
