Business uses cloud-based system to deal with HOA resale documents

Joe Russo understands the importance of efficiency.
Before Russo founded GetDocsNow.com, he had to drive around town to collect reams of resale documents — 500 pages or more of paper and ink per homeowner association house. Between his vehicle’s emissions and the waste of paper and productivity, he decided there was a better way.
In 1999, Russo founded GetDocsNow.com, which uses a cloud-based filing system to store, manage and sell HOA resale documents.
Since its establishment, the company has saved almost 50 trees. And at 500 pages per ream and about 805 reams to a tree, that’s about 17 million pieces of paper.
Between the paper, the ink and the fuel saved, the business also saves time, because instead of having employees photocopy reams of paper, all resale documents are available online for involved parties to see.
Why is being green important?
Being green is important because tending to the ecosystem in which we live makes sense to me. If we all take small steps in some way, our society benefits. And if businesses start out with that direction in mind first, we all win.
How can going green improve productivity?
In the case of our clients, they become more productive simply because they are not wasting time dealing with printing and printers and the cost associated with those processes. Time is money.
What influenced your decision to pursue green practices?
We were not initially going out to do this for a greener outcome. Saving trees is a byproduct of what we actually do, which is enhance productivity.
How has being green reshaped your company’s public perspective?
With companies being more aware of their carbon footprint, they want to do something to be proactive. This is very good for (our) business. Of course, it always comes down to how we affect their company’s bottom lines.
