California footwear company marking opening of North Las Vegas store

WSS, a major California-based footwear retailer, is holding a ceremony in North Las Vegas on Saturday to mark the opening of a new store.

Mexican singer Chiquis Rivera and local community dignitaries will be present for the ceremony at the store at 2209 E. Lake Blvd. The store opened Nov. 8 and currently has more than 20 employees.

WSS officials, in a statement, said the Los Angeles-based company plans to open several other stores in the Las Vegas Valley. It’s the company’s first store outside of California.

Company executives will make a $5,000 school supply donation to C.P. Squires Elementary School as part of the ceremony for the new store.

WSS sells athletic, dress, fashion and casual footwear.
