Carson Station acquisition receives tentative approval

State regulators on Wednesday granted Las Vegas-based 777 Gaming preliminary approval to acquire the Carson Station Casino in Carson City, giving the management company its first ownership stake in a property.

777 Gaming, which manages six casinos in Northern and rural Nevada, will pay $2.8 million for the Russell family casino. Chief Executive Officer Rory Bedore told the Gaming Control Board his company had been observing at the property since March 1 and made several operating suggestions and changes, such as upgrading the hotel room furnishings, changing the casino layout for customer flow and controlling food costs.

Bedore told gaming regulators that 777 Gaming's involvement has stabilized Carson Station, and that a new management team would reach out to attract new business.

The matter will go to the Nevada Gaming Commission on June 23.
