Charity drive on at malls

Despite financial problems that have General Growth Properties teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, the mall company is pressing forward with a holiday charity drive at its Las Vegas properties.

The program, called Giving Spree, will give shoppers who donate as little as $5 discount deals at General Growth's Fashion Show, Boulevard and Meadows malls.

People who want to participate can donate online by Saturday at www.thegivingspree.com.

The proceeds benefit After School All Stars; American Heart Association; Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas; HELP of Southern Nevada; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; March of Dimes Nevada, Multiple Sclerosis Society -- Las Vegas chapter; Olive Crest; Opportunity Village; and Sunrise Children's Foundation.
