THIS WEEK'S BUSINESS PRESS POLL QUESTION
Log onto the Las Vegas Business Press Web site and let us hear your opinion on this week's question.
House Republicans defeated a bill to postpone the upcoming transition from analog to digital television broadcasting to June 12. The vote means the current Feb. 17 switch is still in place -- at least for now. The House Republicans said the delay, which was pushed by President Obama because of concerns that too many Americans were unprepared for the change still, was not necessary and would burden wireless companies and public safety agencies waiting for the spectrum that will be vacated by the switch. Another delay would also cost TV stations, which would have to continue broadcasting analog and digital signals four more months. Supporters of the delay also worry that the government has run out of money to give coupons to people who need to buy converter boxes.
Do you think the switch to digital TV transmission should be delayed further?
