UNLV economist Keith Schwer last month had some grim news to report to business executives attending his Midyear Economic Outlook: Nevada is in a recession. The usually cautiously optimistic Schwer said soaring oil prices, tight credit and the continued slump in housing has sent the state's economy into the tank.
