Company’s goal to feed hungry kids

Ecomom.com, the online retailer that in January relocated to Las Vegas from Santa Monica, Calif., on Wednesday launched a philanthropy initiative to feed hungry children across the country.
For every purchase made on the website, no matter how large or small, Ecomom will donate enough food from Plum Organics to feed one child in America for a day.
CEO Jody Sherman said the company's goal is to feed 100,000 children this year.
"When we launched our food company, the first thing we sold was a line of organic baby food," Sherman said . "That's where our roots are, helping moms find healthy food for their kids."
Ecomom's goal is to involve its customers in the company's philanthropy projects. Prior to the "It's All Good" campaign launch, Ecomom donated a portion of its sales to various nonprofit organizations, but in doing so, Sherman said "our customers don't get any sense that their purchases matter."
Now, information about the campaign will be emphasized on the company's social media channels, the Ecomom website and on packaging materials.
The company has selected five food pantries in four U.S. cities to receive the donations, including a local pantry, God's Groceries.
Sherman said the company wants to create strong partnerships with specific pantries before expanding to include more partners.
"We want to support them by going back every month," he said.
Sherman said Ecomom will begin delivering food next week.
