Conference offers advice on starting direct-sell business
A local small business organization will hold a one-day conference next week on self-employment opportunities in direct selling.
The Nevada Microenterprise Initiative will give participants a chance to meet with representatives of 40 companies that rely on independent direct sales people. They include Avon, Tomboy Tools, Xango and Princess House.
The Small Business Administration, Service Corp of Retired Executives and Nevada Small Business Development Center will provide counseling at the meeting.
The program include presentations on being an entrepreneur and effective sales and marketing.
The conference last year created 26 business owners, said Anna Siefert, operations manager for the Nevada Enterprise Initiative. "I often referred to the event as a 'job fair for entrepreneurs,' " Siefert said.
The conference will be held from 1-6 p.m. on Nov. 12 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 Water St.
The seminar is free and doesn't require advance registration.
