County to show homes for sale, rent in Winchester area

Clark County officials on Saturday will spotlight homes available for sale and rent in the Winchester community through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3131 McLeod Drive, north of Desert Inn Road.

The acquisition of about 50 foreclosed and vacant houses is under way and will continue through next summer. Half of the homes will be sold by the nonprofit developer, Housing For Nevada. The other half will be maintained as long-term affordable rentals by the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority.

Neighborhood stabilization funds are allocated by the federal government to revitalize communities hit hard by the foreclosure crisis and provide affordable housing opportunities.

The federal funds rate is the rate at which banks borrow and lend to one another. While the rates consumers pay to borrow money aren’t directly linked to this rate, shifts affect what you pay for credit cards, auto loans, mortgages, and other financial products.
