Grant will help foundation expand training center

The Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow on Wednesday received a $1.7 million federal grant to expand its work-force training center in Las Vegas.

The U.S. Economic Development Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce, issued the grant. In a statement, Acting Commerce Secretary Rebecca Blank described the grant as an investment that would "support high-skill, living wage jobs in Nevada."

The funding will let the foundation add 8,650 square feet of space. Once completed, the foundation will have 21,650 square-feet of space at its facility on Stella Lake Drive.
