Utility taps successor for retiring executive

Thomas Sheets, senior vice president and general counsel of Southwest Gas Corp. for 11 years, plans to retire and will be succeeded by Karen Haller.

Haller was promoted to vice president and deputy general counsel and compliance officer. She'll replace Sheets as general counsel when he retires in September.

Sheets, who also is chairman of the Nevada Tax Commission, said he plans to practice law part time and work as an arbitrator in Las Vegas.
