Kmart in Las Vegas scheduled to close in October

Another Kmart in the Las Vegas Valley is expected to close.

The Kmart at 2975 E. Sahara Ave., near the intersection with McLeod Drive, will close in early October.

The store was part of a list of 35 Kmart stores and eight Sears stores published Friday by Sears Holdings.

Eligible employees will receive severance and can apply for jobs at other local stores, according to the statement.

Liquidation sales will begin as early as Thursday. However, a manager at the local Kmart store that is closing who declined to give her name said she doesn’t know when that store’s sale begins.

Three other Kmarts in the valley this year have closed or been picked to close. After October, the valley will have four Kmart stores and 13 Sears stores.
