Las Vegas’ giant Skyvue Ferris wheel gets FAA’s OK

The developers of the Skyvue Ferris wheel and retail complex received Federal Aviation Administration approval Tuesday to proceed.

Under the terms of the project approval granted by Clark County, the developers needed the FAA's OK before they could begin construction. Skyvue still has not secured financing.

Developer Howard Bulloch, one of the owners of the 38.7-acre tract on the east side of the Strip across from Mandalay Bay where Skyvue would stand, first obtained a 505-foot height allowance from the FAA in 2004 for any structure. He has renewed it twice since then.

The wheel, at 500 feet, fits within the permit and was expected to gain approval.
