Las Vegas Sands to resume work on Pa. hotel

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Las Vegas Sands Corp. says it will resume construction next month on its unfinished hotel in Pennsylvania.

A company official says the 300-room hotel at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem is now slated to open in May of 2011. Sands had halted work on the hotel in late 2008 as the economy soured.

Sands Bethlehem President Robert DiSalvio says a proposed mall and conference center is still on hold until the market improves.

He testified Wednesday before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in Harrisburg. The board is considering the casino's request to add nearly 100 table games as well as its application for a license renewal.
