Las Vegas social platform Tracky finds an angel
Las Vegas tech start-up Tracky this week announced the receipt of $500,000 in angel funding from Rob Roy, CEO and founder of the Switch SuperNAP.
Switch, the world's largest and most powerful data facility, is based in Las Vegas and houses data for Tracky, an online social collaboration platform. Tracky in March publicly launched at the SuperNAP.
Tracky co-founder David Gosse, who owns the company with wife Jennifer, said the couple has a long history with Roy, having stored data for previous ventures at the SuperNAP.
"We've been in the Switch facilities for over a decade," Gosse said. "(Roy) knows what's happening here in Vegas tech and wants to support that."
The $500,000 investment is the first from Roy's personal investing group, NV Angels.
Roy, in a statement, said the Gosses are "exactly the kind of thought-leaders that the state of Nevada needs in its current mission of celebrating its unique technology assets and in its diversification of the economy."
Tracky has raised $1.5 million in angel funding since its inception. The company recently added two new employees, "chief evangelist" and marketing specialist Sarah Evans, and a senior developer. Gosse said he plans to hire two to three more staffers in the next six months.
Tracky combines social media elements with project management tools, allowing users to manage their personal and professional lives at www.tracky.com.
