Meadows Corp. completes acqusition of two investment firms

Officials with the Meadows Corp. of Las Vegas on Tuesday completed their acquisition of two registered investment adviser firms.
The holding company purchased Rutherford Investment Management LLC in Portland, Ore., and Landmark Global Advisors in Las Vegas. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
"They will be owned under the Meadows Corporation umbrella but will continue to do business under their existing names," said David Thorson, vice president and treasurer of Meadows. "We don't think it's wise to change their names."
As the industry adapts to a new regulatory structure, Thorson said, more firms will be looking to merge with a firm than can provide compliance services. Meadows is in negotiations with several other RIA firms and expects to add two more by the end of the year. Peter Kingman, interim president of Meadows, said possible future acquisitions could include firms in Las Vegas.
Meadows us a holding company providing success and joint venture options to RIA firms. The company is affiliated with Nevada Trust Co. of Las Vegas to supply research and compliance services.
